Remove the old finish:

Another best way to remove the furniture finish completely is by using the combination of equal parts of lacquer thinner and paint thinner. If you like to use chemical remover, select the one that will not cause more problems. While buying the chemical stripper, you have to check on the label for “will wash away with water” or” no cleanup” in order to minimize the messes. For vertical surfaces, thick strippers like paste or gel is the best choice, while for horizontal surface, liquid strippers are the right choice. While using them, make sure to use eye protection and safety gloves, and also apply the strippers in a proper ventilated room.
